We live in an ever changing world. Technology, society and government are all changing at a pace never before seen. President Obama was elected on, “Change We Can Believe In”. The rate of change in technology is in a constant state of acceleration. As each decade goes by the technological advancements increase exponentially.
“We won’t experience 100 years of progress in the 21st century — it will be more like 20,000 years of progress (at today’s rate),” wrote Kurzweil in 2001. Just think about how much things have changed in the past 10 years—wireless internet, smart phones, Facebook and Twitter—and then try to imagine how vastly different things will be in 2021, or even 2100.” H/T Think Big
Man and Change
Man has adapted to constant change by expecting it. He now has a mind that so embraces change that his lifestyle requires it. The results are new symptoms, if not trait/characteristic of man such as Attention Deficit Disorder/ Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Constantly bombarded with the “new and improved,” man now suffers from impaired attention and concentration.
Change seems to be the only constant man has now days. This has resulted in a detached, Facebook society that requires information in a 30 second commercial, meals from the microwave and contact from friends and family in an instant message.
Man is searching for stability while adrift in a sea change. Having faith and confidence in little for everything gets replaced and updated. Man wavers like a wave in a stormy sea constantly driven by the winds of change and tossed in every direction. He is in great need of a hope, an anchor of the soul, something sure and fast.
“For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.” Malachi 3:6
God is the Only Constant
Man feels the void when he does not have God to lean on, does not have God as his cornerstone, does not have God as his foundation.
“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” Hebrews 13:8
Add to it that God is a constant the fact that God is also perfect (Psalm 18:30). The omnipresent God is unvarying, unalterable perfection.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” James 1:17
God can not lie.
“God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” Numbers 23:19
“In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began” Titus 1:2
As the world accelerates its rate of change, God the constant has remained the same. Man strives for perfection all the while not appreciating that it is perfection that made him. It is time for man to stop his ways and turn to “The” way, the truth and the light in Jesus Christ. What we are after is what He has got!
