“For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me. But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.” (Psalm 44:6-7)
No longer do we rely on a bow and a sword to defend our self. Today it is mainly our intelligence and wit. But just because the weapons of defense (and offense) have changed does not alter the fact that it is God that saves us, not our weapons of choice.
Man’s weapons are meant for man’s world which is a lost proposition to start with. We must leave the natural and rely on the supernatural God to defeat our enemies and foes. We are to lean on Him and not on our own understanding. “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverb 3:6).
One of the most difficult things to do is to let go of our devices and ways, especially if they have worked for us in the past. Success in worldly ways and ventures creates attachment and dependence on them. That in itself should be a warning sign. Dependence on anything worldly shows that that thing you depend on has control over you. You are chained and bound to it. You are a slave to it.
Freedom from dependence on anything comes through accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, receiving the Holy Ghost and knowing that God is the God of all things.
Trust not in your bow and sword, your knowledge and wit. They are not weapons but rather a crutch to be leaned on in a worldly battle. A crutch that becomes necessary for your survival in this natural environment. Rise above this world. Lean on God and His wisdom and you shall be saved from your enemies.
