Thou Art Worthy

“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” (Revelation 4:11)

The sooner we realize that, “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” (Psalm 24:1) the better off we’ll be. Until we know that all is God’s and is of God we will not give our Lord the proper recognition or respect that He deserves.

God is not just a supervisor. Nor is he just the keeper of the law and administrator of punishment. God is the originator and creator of all things. This includes the earth under our feet and the stars above our head. God is the creator of our head and every hair on it. There is nothing made that God didn’t make. He is before all things and all things exist because of Him.

Instead of trying to get God out of our way so we can be doing our own thing we should be begging for God to, “Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.” (Psalm 25:4-5). God is all glory and honor and power. We should be plugging into Him and not trying to do everything in our power to disconnect from the one true source of everything.

But here is a central point we need to hang on to. God created all things for His pleasure. He didn’t have to create anything. God owes no one or no thing. The earth was created and all things that inhabit it for the pleasure of God. He is the one who determined it to be done. No force of nature, no evolution, no meteor crashes or big bangs, it was God that created it and created it for His own purpose and wish.

This includes man too. Neither we nor chance nor evolution created mankind. God did because He wanted to. He is the creator. We are the creation.

“In the beginning God created…..” (Genesis 1:1). It is within the nature of God to create and to allow that creation to propagate. We are not our own but rather creations of God designed to be children of God in every way. Only sin separates us from the God attributes and characteristics which come natural to man. The greater the sin the more distant we are from Him. We develop sin attributes and a carnal character thus blocking the flow of righteousness and Godly power.

Fortunately God gave His only begotten son to pay the price for all sin. Now we have an avenue back to the creator, back to the father, back to the Lord of all glory and honor and power. All we have to do is to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and we will return to the pleasure of our God.

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
