Refining Truth Radio – Interview with Pastor Owen Lupton

Refining Truth Radio. It’s always great to speak with a man of God. Inevitably the spirit starts to flow and the conversation you thought you were going to have takes off in a different direction. Make that many different directions.

I had the privilege of hearing Pastor Owen Lupton of the Word Fellowship Church preach last Sunday. His message was based on 2 Thessalonians 2:10: “And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved”.

I called Pastor Lupton the next day. I wanted to expand on, “because they received not the love of the truth” and how it relates to America today. Below is the entire Refining Truth Radio interview.

As I was starting the interview a question was placed in my mind by the dear Lord. The question was, “What have you seen change in Christians since you’ve been a Pastor”.

I was somewhat surprised when Pastor responded with, “The authority of God’s word in people’s lives”. A little on in the interview (Entire audio interview below) I was curious to find out why he thought folks had become detached from God’s word, spiritually detached as if it were nothing more than a code of ethics or a moral principle.

“It’s under constant attack from every area of secularism to deny, not just that there is a God but deny satan too because if you don’t have a heaven and you don’t have a Hell then you don’t have an ultimate penalty and of course you don’t have any redemption either. So that reduces you to the level of an animal. And if you are an animal that evolves over time then there are no absolute right or wrongs. There are no real morals, there are no values except what is current for the day, which allows you to do whatever you want to do without any thought that there is an ultimate penalty without redemption” responded the Pastor

About a third of the way into the interview the subject of abortion came up. His response is something everyone should hear.

“We’ve had this scenario that’s been played out that it is woman’s rights. It’s a woman’s right to choose, it’s her body and so far in regards to pregnancy and abortions. That all sounds good but I’d like to add something else in to this mix,” Pastor said.

“They had a straw man erected that they have fallen for, because of the feminist movement. The truth is that it’s really men’s rights. Because really, the woman after the decision that she makes, after she has the relationship whether she’s pregnant, has the child, doesn’t have the child and aborts it, gives it up for adoption-She’s the one left with the pain and the agony of her decision and the men are allowed to go out and have relations with as many woman as they want to, without responsibility, with no repercussion, no financial management other than they might be willing to pay for the abortion, or whatever. In other words it’s really letting men off for nothing”.

I do want to add one apology. The audio quality is not at the level we would like for it to be. There was a technical “glitch” I was unable to catch while we were recording. So, the audio sounds a bit like AM Radio being played on transistor radio.

2 Thessalonians 2:3, 10

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

Isaiah 17:10-11

Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips:

In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.
