The Natural Man

The Natural Man

“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (1 Corinthians 2:14).

The natural man, the humanist, the atheist, the carnal man are dumbfounded by the word of God. The spirit which infuses the word is something that by-passes them. They understand what is written in front of them but don’t receive the message it holds.

Natural Man

The natural man is generally quite smart. But it is his intelligence that causes him to stumble over the words of God. Often times it is his intelligence and his ability to comprehend that causes him to fall because his intelligence leads to pride and an inflated ego.

“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” (Proverbs 16:18)

What the natural man must do is to let go. He must allow his spirit to receive the Holy Spirit. He needs to stop trying to figure everything out and just open up to receive.

The spirit brings with it knowledge and discernment but all of which are based on faith in God. Without faith then there is no knowledge. This is what confuses the natural man. He has no faith so therefore the word of God is foolishness and nonsense to him. Only when he becomes spirit filled will any of it make sense.

Pray for the natural man that his eyes will be opened and his heart ready to receive the word of God. Only by the supernatural will the natural man change.
