Though a man say he hath faith

Though a man say he hath faith

“What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?” (James 2:14)

The answer is no. Faith is active. It will manifest itself in one form or another whether it is through prayer, worship or relationship with man and God. Faith is not static. In fact if someone’s faith is still then it is dead.

“Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” (James 2:17).

This is something to think about for those who profess Christ but do not live for Christ. The non-practicing Christian. You know the type. They profess to be a Christian but in no way display the character or the attributes of a child of God.

“But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?” (James 2:20)

When Christ is inside of us our spirit becomes excited. This causes us to do for Him in a variety of ways. We become more Christ like. So our “works” are a manifestation of the Holy Spirit moving inside of us.

Some confuse this spirit and faith based movement and activity with process and protocol. The act of doing isn’t necessarily the point. It is the spirit propelling the action that is. Let me clarify. The devil can go to church, tithe and pray. In fact he does. But the spirit driving the action is Satan.

You can have a person doing the same thing, going to church, tithing and praying. But he has no spirit driving his cause, he’s simply performing a function. Do you think this non-spirit filled person is acting off of faith? No.

Then you have the Christian who goes to church, tithes and prays. You couldn’t stop this person if you tried from doing these “works” and deeds. Why? Because it is the Holy Spirit within him motivating and moving this person in performing these works. His faith produces the works.

Some people do things (works) thinking this will make them a Christian. It doesn’t.

Some people have a faith about God and religion but are not Holy Ghost filled. These people tend to sit and be religious. They don’t do much but sure do act holy.

Some people are Holy Ghost filled. These people can’t be stopped in their outward display of affection towards Christ. They dedicate their time and effort in glorifying Christ. Their works are eruptions of their faith. It simply can’t be stopped.

“Faith without works is dead”, plain and simple. Works without being Holy Ghost motivated is just as good as dead too.
