Love and Lust

Love and Lust

Not only is love of God but love is God. Love is a quality and characteristic of our Lord but it is also His composition and make up.

When we love someone then we love that person through God and by God because God is love. There is no other way we can love someone else. God is love so therefore all love involves God.

“And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.” (1 John 4:16)

Some people will confuse lust and desire for love. These things are minus God. Lust and desire are of the devil. “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.” (James 1:14). Two people brought together by lust equals disaster.

“Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids. For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adultress will hunt for the precious life.” (Proverbs 6:25-26)

Two people brought together by love (God) equals a divine union.

“But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” (Mark 10:6-9).

How do you differentiate between the two, love and lust? It is very easy. Love always gives. Lust always takes. It is that simple.

God is love. The devil draws out the lust that is within us. Prayer and time will reveal which condition you are in with your “love” interest.
