“Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.” (Romans 13:10)
Love, the Godly type of love known in the Greek as agape. This type of love will present no ill, no harm or malice to a friend, relative or acquaintance. It is a love rooted in God that reaches out covering all within its grasp.
If Godly love is present then sin and unrighteousness cannot be present. God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. (1 John 1:5 &7)
Love becomes the fulfilling of the law for no sin or darkness is present. What is present amidst God’s love is righteousness. Righteousness is how we treat other people. A righteous person will express this Godly, agape type of love and kindness to all at all times. An unrighteous person will not. A give away trait of the unrighteous is selfishness. Selfishness is the opposite of true love. Selfishness takes while love gives.
Remember, “Love worketh no ill to his neighbor”. But selfishness and unrighteousness do nothing but that!
Love fulfills the law. It causes the law to be unnecessary. Unrighteousness gives life and purpose for the law and the condemnation that is a result of it.
“Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.”
