If there was no God

If there was no God

What would man be like if there was no God? What would the world be like if there was no God? This is something we should all stop and think about because with little doubt or argument most people would agree that we are racing towards a Godless existence. Fortunately in the Bible we have an example of both, and it isn’t pretty.

God Created

We learn at the very beginning of the Bible that, “God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters” (Genesis 1:1-2).

Notice how before the “Spirit of God” moved that the earth was formless and in a state of confusion (without form), empty (void), obscure and dark (and darkness), covered the abyss, the earth (upon the face of the deep).

Spirit of God

Before the Spirit of God moved upon the earth the creation of God was nothing but a vacuous, dark, state of confusion. It was only when the spirit moved was there light, definition, purpose and good.

It was the same with man. After the fall there became a separation from God. Sin and had entered into the picture and without the Spirit of God, man transitioned into a dark and confused state.

“And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” (Genesis 6:5).

As our society here on earth progresses it moves further and further away from God. In so doing we get closer and closer to sin. We become more and more confused and our situation and future becomes more and more dark.

It’s time to invite the spirit back into our lives once and for all both personally and as a society. It is not too late. As Peter said, “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out” (Acts 3:19).

Jesus Christ said, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel” (Mark 1:15).

It is time to turn from the confusion and darkness and unto the light.

“For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth” (Ephesians 5:8-9).

god spirit“But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.  Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thessalonians 5:4-9).
