The battle between good and evil. It is something we have to confront and deal with every day of our lives. But so we may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good there is one point that must be made clear. Good versus evil is not God versus the devil. There is no equal to God nor is there a challenge to God. The devil is not on a level playing field with God. God is above all. More importantly God is all!
There is no supernatural battle between God and the devil to see who will be the victor. Sin, death and the devil were defeated at the cross.
The supernatural battle is with man. God has allowed man to walk in his owns ways.
God, “Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways” (Acts 14:16).
Man has free will and choice. God has put forth the Gospel call to him. It is up to man to respond to it or not.
The purpose of the devil is to steal, kill and destroy man. The power of the devil is his ability to entice him. He draws on the lust that is already present within fallen man.
The supernatural battle is within man. God has made a clear path to life and salvation. Man must choose, on his own accord whether or not to walk down that path. The devil will lie to man and entice him in an attempt to persuade man to deviate off of the path of righteousness.
God calls. The devil lies. Man must discern the difference and choose.
The battle between good and evil falls entirely on man. The supernatural battle rests entirely with him. “Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live” (Amos 5:14)
